Nick Russell is the new guy in town. Seeming a loner, he has trouble staying in one town and making friends. When an old man loses his brother in the forest, he is the first to help him. Once in the forest, he and four other citizens of Briarwood, Chip, Vida, Xander, and Madison, meet a sorceress named Udonna. She tells them that they are the five chosen to defend their planet from the evils of the Underrealm and become the Power Rangers Mystic Force. At first, Nick has trouble accepting his role as a sorcerer and leader of the Mystic Force. But soon, he learns to trust himself and his new friends and really begins to come out of his shell. He now works at the Rock Porium with his fellow rangers, and is always quick to remind everyone of their committments and responsibility. As the Red Mystic Ranger, he harnesses the power of the mighty Phoenix, and therefore has control over flame. With his Magi Staff, which can transform into a sword, his Mystic Racer, the all-powerful legend mode, and fo course, his magic wand, Nick is one guy you don't want to mess with.
